WHO IS RESPONSIBLE?
In terms of South Africa’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, any party placing regulated products on the market carries a legal duty to ensure those products are collected and responsibly managed at end of life. Compliance is mandatory and subject to oversight by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries & Environment (DFFE).
HOW TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY?
HOW TO STAY COMPLIANT?
Compliance with South Africa’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations is a legal obligation for all entities placing regulated products on the market. Registration with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries & Environment (DFFE), membership of an approved Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO), and the payment of prescribed EPR fees are not optional, they are statutory requirements. Failure to comply exposes businesses to regulatory action, financial penalties and reputational risk.
Do Your Products
Fall Under EPR Regulations?
If your business manufactures, imports, distributes or sells products within any of the following sectors in South Africa, you are legally required to comply with Extended Producer Responsibility regulations. Circular Energy is a DFFE-approved Producer Responsibility Organisation authorised to manage compliance for these regulated categories and to support you throughout your compliance journey.
